BACKSBERG WINE ESTATE - Winelands

AREA

Rich in Olde Cape history, the Winelands region is a melting pot of fine cuisine, superb wines and spectacular scenery. You will find some of South Africa's oldest and most famous wine estates with their Grande Olde Cape Dutch farmhouses standing guard over the vines as they have for hundreds of years.

DESCRIPTION

Backsberg lies on the slopes of the Simonsberg Mountains, equidistant from Paarl; Stellenbosch and Franschhoek in the heart of the Cape winelands; steeped in family history and Old Cape Heritage.  Easily accessible from the N1 just 40 minutes drive from Capetown  CBD and 20 minutes from the Airport.

CONFERENCING

Our main conference venue is very versatile in that we are able to accommodate small or large groups as the venue can be divided into smaller areas by our custom made sliding panels. Every section is accessible from the reception courtyard and has doors with windows, which provide natural light and access to the verandah overlooking the estate. There is easy access for vehicles and other large pieces of equipment making it well suited for corporate launches and exhibitions.  We have another two venues for smaller groups or break away venue.

We offer our conference delegate a complimentary wine tasting and cellar tour.
We will source accommodation if required and will arrange transport to and from the estate.

CORPORATE EVENTS

Capacity 50 – 250 including dancing. Up to 450 when we extend the venue into the courtyard. At Backsberg we arrange your corporate event to your specifications, nothing is written in stone. A professional and dedicated team will welcome you to Backsberg and assist you step by step in planning your function and ensure that every detail is executed on the day.

Wedding Ceremony


Indoor Ceremony: The amazing old Vat Cellar with a wide brick aisle between huge old oak fermentation barrels is unmistakably Cape Winelands with “Wow Factor”

 

Garden Ceremony:  There are a number of options for garden ceremonies on allocated lawns with magnificent views and beautiful gardens. The Manor Lawn offers exclusive privacy on the manicured lawn surrounded by beautiful gardens.

 

Wedding Reception

Meet in the beautiful courtyard softened by a central garden with a vine covered pergola and boasting a cozy corner complete with a feature fireplace. Here you may enjoy a pre-drink and canapés, mingle with your guests and experience the ambiance that is the heart of the Cape winelands. 
The courtyard flows directly into a versatile function venue with sliding partitions designed to transform the area from one large room into smaller areas to comfortably accommodate groups from fifty up to two hundred and fifty guests. 

 

OUTSIDE CATERING: Capacity 50 - 1000
The options are endless on this beautiful estate.
We are able to cater for functions on allocated lawns with spectacular views of the vineyards and surrounding mountains.  There must, however, be provision made in case of bad weather.
We will arrange a Bedouin tent for this purpose. The cost will be determined by the hiring costs.
